Byd will open a factory in Tanjong Malim, the first production is expected to be 2026 – Exco
Tanjong Malim, (named) – Tanjong Malim continues to be on the path to emerge as a superior automated center when the BYD multinational conglomerate will open a city of electric vehicle production factory (EV) with production which is expected to begin in 2026.
Chairperson of the Tourism, Industry, Investment and Development Committee of Silver, Sze Yee, said that the first phase of the project will involve 60 hectares and is expected to create thousands of employment opportunities in the manufacturing and research and development sectors (R&D).
He said the project was a major achievement of the implementation of the Muallim Speed Lane (M-SL) by the state government that accelerated the strategic investment approval process.
He said BYD investment not only had a significant impact on the country’s economy but also accelerated the development of high -tech manufacturing sectors and green industries.
“In addition, BYD investment is an important step in the success of Tanjung Malim Automotive High Technology (AHTV) which is being implemented in Tanjong Malim,” he told a press conference after the development session of the Muallim District District at the Tanjong Malim District Council close here yesterday.
Loh said the presence of BYD would strengthen the automotive ecosystem in Perak through the existence of synergy with protons/geely and the same industrial support in North Selangor and the establishment of the Center for R&D which will be developed in Sungkal.
He said the land approval had begun last May when the initial work began July.
According to Loh, the construction of the factory is expected to begin in the end of August with the launch party scheduled to be inaugurated by the Chairman of the Minister of Datuk Series Saarani Mohamad on September 4.
“The factory will also provide more cooperation with local companies in the automotive supply sector and empower populations with green technology skills,” he said.
He said the existence of BYD was also a proof of investor confidence in the Madani government policy and the commitment of the state government to become a leader in the high automotive industry and green innovation.
Meanwhile, Loh said that the construction of Proton Holdings Infrastructure of the BHD First EV factory in Tanjung Malim now reached 90.4 percent while the installation of equipment was 83.5 percent, making the overall progress of the project by 88.9 percent.
He said the progress of the project showed that the factory was almost ready to be built and ready to operate in the near future.
“The presence of new investors including BVD also intensified the development of automotive hubs in Tanjung Malim, thus strengthening the position of silver as a center for high and green vehicle production in the region.
