UN: There is no assistance distributed in Gaza, stranded on the Shalom Kerem Shalom path
Hamilton, May 22 (named-Anadolu)- The UN (UN) on Wednesday said that only a small number of aid trucks were allowed to enter the Gaza Strip through Israeli controlled shalom, but there was no supply that could be distributed due to safety factors, Anadolu Ajansi reported.
UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters that all border assistance supplies are still in the loading area of the shalom kerem because “Israeli authorities only allow the organization to go through a crowded and considered unsafe and high risk of robbery, because the Gaza population has been in the decision of more than 11 weeks from Israel’s restriction.”
“Other important goods such as cleaning products and fuel are not permitted to enter by Israeli authorities,” Dujarric said.
He stressed that the assistance was still stranded even though the truck was loaded and ready to move.
“On Wednesday (local time), there was no information received by our colleagues in Jerusalem that the aid truck had left Shalom,” he said.
Dujarric described the situation as “changing” and insisted that the United Nations continued to negotiate with Israel “to identify the best route from Kerem Shalom to Gaza to ensure that the flow of aid was not disturbed or stopped.”
However, it is important to emphasize that small and only allowed to enter Shalom Kerem is still not enough to meet Gaza’s big and urgent needs.

According to Dujarric, “Israeli bombings and attacks are still ongoing throughout the Gaza Strip. Today, the Gaza Ministry of Health reports that people have been killed in the last 24 hours and yesterday the ministry issued an appeal immediately for people to donate blood to those who were sick and injured.”

Citing the UN Humanitarian Affairs Coordination Office (Ocha), he said “80 percent of the regions in the Gaza Strip are now subject to forced transfer instructions or located in the Israeli military zone. These zones need help to coordinate their movements with Israeli security authority.”
“Forced transfer of Gaza people has given a lot of pressure on the humanitarian aid team, especially when there is no food and basic needs that are allowed to enter,” he said.
He said the condition of the shelter was very bad with the location of protection, residential buildings and temporary facilities that were not overwhelmed or destroyed.
“People must live temporarily in unemployed buildings, not ready to be built, destroyed or damaged. Some sleep in an open area,” he said.
Dujarric reported that health services are now paralyzed by Israeli attacks on medical facilities.
“Previously today, Al Awda Hospital was the only hospital that partially functioned in northern Gaza and was still treating several patients. Yesterday, Kamal Adwan Hospital stopped the operation,” he said.
