Nearly 100,000 users of Johor Bahru are affected, the main pump of Johor River LRA is damaged
Johor Bahru – Around 100,000 consumer accounts in several areas around the Johor Bahru District are influenced by disruption of water supply after the contingent damage to the main pump that distributes water to the Johor River Water Treatment Plant (LRA).
This problem was informed by Johor Public Works, Chair of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh in a statement today.
He said the Johor River LRA operation had to be fully stopped since yesterday afternoon, causing 318 million liters per day (MLD) to be distributed to nearly 100,000 consumer accounts.
“As a direct step, the improvement of existing water sources has been implemented, and has succeeded in storing around 11,000 accounts from affected.
“These accounts are expected to continue to receive water supply as usual at 7:00 in the morning.
“The repair work is ongoing, so far 15% and are expected to be completed at 7:00 in the morning.
“Furthermore, the supply recovery process will be implemented in the yard to ensure stable water pressure and gradually continue to affected areas,” he said.
Meanwhile. A total of 16 9m³ and 40m³ of water tank trucks were moved to critical locations, including hospitals, health centers, and public focus areas as additional support.
“We are very sorry for the difficulties that occur and to appreciate the patience and cooperation of all users during the period of this disturbance.
“All efforts are being made to speed up the full recovery process,” he added.
