Death of Palapes UTM Cadet Officer: Nothing is protected if there is an element of intimidation, crime
Semenyih, (named) – The Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) has assured that they will not protect any individual if the investigation of Syamsul Haris Shamsudin Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) students found that there is an element of intimidation or crime.
Minister of Higher Education Datuk Series Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir said the committee report to investigate the deaths of the UTM Reserve Training Team (Palapes) cadet officers was expected to be completed in the near future.
“I have directed UTM to take the right steps and cooperate with an investigation. There is no attempt to try to protect anyone if there are bad elements made for Haris sister.
“The most important thing is that the investigation committee report must be accelerated … and at the same time the things raised by family members can be recorded,” he said after visiting the mother of the late Syamsul Haris, Umm Haiman Bee Daulgun at his residence here yesterday, which was also attended by UTM Vice Rector, Prof. Dr. Mohd Mohd Shafry, yesterday, was also attended.
Syamsul Haris, 22, was reported to have died while undergoing UTM Palapes training at the Army Combat Training Center (Pulada), Ulu Tiram, Johor for unclear death.
Semester 2 Bachelor of Sekuritas Cyber UTM and the oldest of three siblings participated in UTM Palapes training starting July 26 and should be scheduled for August 3.
Previously, Defense Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said the ministry had formed a committee that also joined the Ministry of Home Affairs to investigate Syamsul Haris’s death.
Meanwhile, the family of the deceased demanded that an investigation of the causes of transparent and fair death, and wanted the second autopsy process to be carried out immediately.
Umm Haiman Bee claims that in the body of his son there are bruises and injuries such as physical actions and not injuries due to seizures.
“I ask for a transparent investigation, I want to know what causes my son’s death and transparent investigation.
“(In the body) there is a wound on the chest because it is stabbed or beaten with objects … the eye also has a bruise … I believe there is an element of crime and my child is beaten, harassed, harassed until he dies,” he said.
He also asked lawyers who represent the Datuk Naransingh family to become a member of the Investigation Committee previously determined.
