Safar (long journey) is a difficult thing. However, in such difficult times, Allah gives us the opportunity to pray a lot and that is when it is efficacious, it is easy for prayers to be answered.
My brother … In a hadith it is stated,
There are three prayers that are certain to be answered, namely: the prayer of an oppressed person, the prayer of a traveler, and the prayer of a father for his child.
“There are three times when prayers are granted (granted) that cannot be doubted, namely: (1) the prayer of a wronged person, (2) the prayer of a traveler, (3) the prayer of parents for their children.(HR. Ahmad 12/479 no. 7510, At Tirmidhi 4/314 no. 1905, Ibnu Majah 2/1270 no. 3862. Shaykh Al Albani recommends this hadith)
Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam himself said that traveling was part of ‘adzab (torture). From Abu Hurairah, Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam said,
Traveling is a torture
“Safar is part of ‘adzab (torture)(HR. Bukhari no. 1804 and Muslim no. 1927)
This means that the traveler will really encounter difficulties. Just imagine if you were traveling from abroad back to your hometown. Especially if the journey requires transit in several cities. What previously might have taken 9 hours, because you had to transit in another city, ended up taking almost 24 hours. Moreover, the situation in a vehicle or plane is less pleasant because we cannot sleep as we should. The body cannot lie down on a soft mattress. It’s really very difficult.
Because of the difficult conditions on the journey, the heart finally gave up. When the heart is so surrendered, that is when it is easy to answer prayer. When the heart surrenders to Rabb’azza wa jallathat is the essence of ‘ubudiyah (devotion), humiliation, and submission to Him. Finally, a servant devotes himself to worshiping Him. If a person’s condition is like that, then the prayers they offer will be answered more easily. The further the journey, the closer the prayer is answered.
O my brother… Take advantage of the time when you are on a pilgrimage to ask for all the conveniences from Allah Story. Ask him for convenience in your travel matters. Likewise, ask Allah to make things easier in other worldly affairs, and likewise, don’t forget that the main thing is prayer so that you will be given various conveniences in the reckoning in the afterlife. Don’t forget to pray for your own good, stay away from your own bad things, and pray for the good of your wife, children, parents, siblings and other Muslim relatives.
Dhikr while traveling that can be practiced to make the journey more blessed:
If you are already in the vehicle to travel, you should say, “Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest. After reading,
Glory be to Him who has handed this over to us, and we were unable to obey, and indeed we face our Lord. O Lord, we ask You in our journey of this truth. And piety and who Works as you please. O Allah, make this journey easy for us and make it easy for us. O Allah, You are the travel companion and successor of the family. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from Travel moths, gloomy outlook, and bad luck in money and family.
“Subhanaladzi Sakh-Kharo Lanaa Hadza wa maa kuna kunnah lahu muqrinin. Wa inna ila robbina lamun-qolibun. Allahumma inna nas’aluka andI Ukur Hadza Al Birro Wat Taqwa Wamal ‘Amali Ma Tardho. Allahumma Hawwn ‘Alaina Safaronnaa Hadza, wathwi ‘Anna Bu’dahu. Allahumma Antash Shoohibu Fis Safar, Kholifafafafafafafafafafafafafafatu. Allahumma he is a’udzubika min wa’tsaa-is safari wa ka-aabatil manzhori wa suu-il munqolabi fil mal expert.(Glory be to Allah who has subdued this vehicle for us, even though previously we did not have the ability to do so, and indeed only to our Lord, we will return. O Allah, we sincerely ask You for goodness, piety and charity that You will bless us with on our journey. O Allah, make our journey easy, make long distances closer for us. O Allah, You are the spirit of travel and a substitute in the midst of the family. O Allah, indeed I seek refuge in You from the difficulties of the journey, the sad return home, and a bad view of property and family).
