Trump Pulls US Out of 66 International Organizations
Washington — United States (US) President Donald Trump pulled the US out of a major climate agreement as part of a major rollback from concerted global action.
Through an AFP report citing a White House memorandum, as many as 66 international organizations and agreements listed in the White House memorandum are contrary to US interests. Almost half of the list is related to the United Nations (UN).
The list includes the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
In giving full support to his domestic policies on fossil fuels, Trump openly rejects the scientific consensus on global warming. He described climate science as a fraud.
The memorandum also ordered the withdrawal of the US from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), as well as the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
Trump also pulled the US out of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) in addition to drastically reducing foreign aid.

According to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the organizations involved are driven by progressive ideology and seek to limit US sovereignty.
“From gender equality campaigns to climate orthodoxy, most international organizations now support the globalist project,” he said.
Meanwhile, California Governor Gavin Newsom criticized the decision and described Trump’s actions as weakening US leadership on the world stage. This in turn creates a vacuum that China exploits.
Senior Advisor to the Center for Biological Diversity, Jean Su, said that withdrawing from the UNFCCC was much different from the Paris Agreement.
“We hold that it is illegal for the President to withdraw unilaterally from a treaty that requires the support of a two-thirds vote of the Senate.
“We are looking at legal options to pursue those arguments,” he said.
Other organizations listed in the memorandum include the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and UN Women. Likewise with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
Withdrawal from the parent agreement is expected to create additional legal uncertainty over future US efforts to rejoin.
