The minimum wage sequence of RM1,700 is fully effective on August 1
Putrajaya, July 22 (named) – 2024 Minimum Wage Sequence (PGM) from RM1,700 a month will be fully effective starting August 1.
The Ministry of Human Resources (Kesuma) in a statement today said the order would apply to all entrepreneurs throughout the country, regardless of the number of workers who were charged after six months of the previous implementation, which will end on July 31.
“From August 1, all entrepreneurs without exception, including those who previously enjoyed the delay, had to comply with RM1,700 minimum wage orders a month.
“This includes workers who are not citizens and internship contract workers, but do not apply to domestic servants,” the statement said.
Kesuma has asked all entrepreneurs to review the company’s salary structure to ensure that no employees receive basic wages below the minimum level and progressively adjust operations by focusing on increasing productivity and training of employee skills.
Kesuma also warned that the failure to comply with the minimum wage order was a violation under the 2011 National Salary Consultative Law.
Entrepreneurs who do not comply can be fined up to RM10,000 for each employee, additional fines of RM1,000 per day of violations continue after sentences, and for repeated violations, and maximum fine can reach RM20,000 or prison sentences do not exceed five years.
Meanwhile, Kesuma also encouraged entrepreneurs to take advantage of the Progressive Voluntary Salary (DGP) policy and act as a complement to the implementation of the minimum wage.
“Through DGP, entrepreneurs have the opportunity to increase employee income based on productivity, skills, and work contributions, while enjoying government -based cash incentives.
“This not only helps companies maintain very skilled workers, but also strengthen the long -term competitiveness of the labor market,” he said.
