Kota Bharu, September 20 (named) – Thai authorities have succeeded in releasing efforts to smuggle 450,000 Yaba pills worth 13.5 million Baht (RM1.8 million) to Malaysia through yesterday’s courier service.

Chairman of the Narcotics Center for Sungai Supeeyan Daemokleng Machete said that the confiscation was carried out with intelligence information about sending drugs through courier companies to border cities.

He said he had investigated in the morning to detect people who were expected to take drug packaging.

“However, no one was present and all the drugs were confiscated and taken to the Sungai Golok police station for further investigation,” he said when contacted today.

Supeeyan said the drug was believed to be smuggled into Malaysia through the Golok River and each pill at a market price of around 30 Baht.

The confiscation was held around 2 pm (3 pm Malaysia) under the direction of Governor Narathiwat Lt Young Thodham Trakul.

He said he was committed to tightening controls to prevent the entry of drugs into Malaysia, which is often the target of smuggling syndicate.
