Nine FFC mission activists from Malaysia may be taken to Turkiye this afternoon
SERDANG, Oct 10 (Bernama) – Nine Malaysian activists who participated in the Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) and Thousand Madleens mission to Gaza are likely to be taken to Istanbul, Turkiye this afternoon after being arrested by Israel on Wednesday.
Chief Executive Officer of Humanitarian Care Malaysia (MyCare) Shaharul Anwar said information received from the FFC Operations Center in Turkiye informed the Turkiye Foreign Ministry that the flight from Israel would land in Istanbul at around 15.00 local time today.
“It is known that the plane will carry a group of Freedom Flotilla Coalition activists from 22 countries, including nine Malaysian activists and six global Sumud Flotilla activists (three from Norway, two from Morocco, and one from Spain).
“We are also waiting for detailed information from Wisma Putra to confirm the status of the nine Malaysian activists on the flight, whether they represent Malaysia or not, we cannot confirm that yet,” he said at a press conference on the development of the humanitarian mission here.
He said that lawyers from the Arab Minority Center for Arab Minority Rights in Israel had managed to meet with all Malaysian activists who were in good health as previously reported.

The nine Malaysian representatives are Prof Emeritus Dr Mohd Alauddin Mohd Ali, Dr Fauziah Mohd Hassan, Dr Hafiz Sulaiman, Dr Ili Syakira Mohd Suhaimi, Dr Mohd Afandi Salleh, Dr Noorhasyimah Ismail, Norsham Abu Bakar, Dr Maziah Muhammad and Astro Awani Awani Shukri Abdul Jalil.
Meanwhile, Kamarul Zaman said he plans to send MyCare representatives to Istanbul to prepare for the activists’ arrival and bring them clothes and other necessities.
Yesterday, he informed the activists who also reported that their personal belongings such as clothes, power banks and others had been confiscated but so far no serious injuries have been confirmed including the possibility of violence against the Malaysian delegation.
The FFC and TMTG humanitarian mission involved around 150 activists from 25 countries, boarding nine ships including the Nurani and Umm Saad to be intercepted by the Israeli military on Wednesday when it was less than 120 nautical miles from Gaza at 10.50 Malaysian time.
Eight Malaysians are on conscience while another one is on Umm Saad.
