Many aid trucks that are allowed to enter Gaza are intercepted by people who are desperate
New York, May 24 (named) – The United Nations (UN) said that many new aid trucks were allowed to enter Gaza being captured by people who were desperate and starving, the Xinhua news agency reported on Friday.
UN Deputy Secretary General Farhan Haq said he had sent about 100 trucks that were published to Kerem Shalom (Karem Abu Salem) and succeeded in carrying around 35 trucks from the Palestinian division at the border to be sent to areas in need in Gaza.
“On Wednesday, six trucks carried flour by residents and the burden was released. On Thursday night, 15 trucks suffered the same fate.
“As far as we understand, this incident is not a planned crime, but an action driven by hunger and despair,” he said.
He said the UN Humanitarian Agency was working to rebuild trust with the local community to avoid repeated incidents.
However, the best way to avoid seizures is to provide more assistance so that residents do not give up, he said.
In a meeting with reporters, the UN Secretary -Jender Antonio Gutres also voiced concerns, which stated that only a small amount of assistance had succeeded in crossing the Gaza border after nearly 80 days of aid was blocked by Israel.
Nearly 400 trucks have been approved to enter Gaza through one -the route operating in the last few days, but only about 115 of those who have been sent, and no one reaches the north, said Guterres.
“All assistance that has been approved so far is a drop of water when Gaza needs a spill.
“The needs are very large, but the obstacles are very burdensome.
According to Guterres, other important supplies such as fuel, tents, cooking gas and water filter tools are also prohibited.
“We continue to submit security steps and risk mitigation for our convoy,” he said.
Farhan Haq said the World Food Program (WFP) also appealed to Israeli authority to allow more assistance to enter Gaza faster, consistently and safer routes.
He said supplies from outside Gaza usually only reached the border intersection after one or two days after complicated inspection and consumed time.
“The size of the load is not uniform. In Gaza, our team will set additional layers of palette to maximize truck space,” he said, added that shipping on Thursday including flour, nutritious food and medical supply.

“Meanwhile, a Medan Hospital in South Gaza also received a medical supply that was needed this week.”
The World Health Organization (WHO) warns that the increase in attacks in Gaza has caused a weak health system to the threshold of destruction.
WHO refers to Thursday’s attack at Al Awda Hospital in northern Gaza, which caused triage tents, including those provided by who burned, thus destroying all medical supplies and several vehicles in the basement.
WHO who tried to enter the hospital was prohibited, while sources from the hospital reported that the fire had not been fully removed on Friday morning.
WHO said four percent of nearly 700 attacks on health facilities in Gaza since October 2023 occurred last week.
At present, at least 94 percent of Gaza Hospitals have been damaged or destroyed, half no longer operating.
The agency informed that four large hospitals, Kamal Adwan Hospital, Indonesian Hospital, Hamad Hospital for rehabilitation and prosthetics, as well as European Gaza Hospital – had to stop this service a week ago due to an attack or in the evacuation zone.
