Kia Corporation Switches To ‘Principal-Led Model’ In Malaysia
All existing Kia service centers will continue to operate as usual. Existing reservations continue, new reservations will reopen in January 2026. Kia is committed to supporting the economic and automotive development of Malaysia and ASEAN.
Kia Corporation (Kia) and Bermaz Auto Berhad (Bermaz) have agreed to end their strategic collaboration after four years. Bermaz, through its subsidiary Dinamikjaya Motors Sdn Bhd, was previously the sole distributor of new and used Kia vehicles and spare parts in Malaysia.
With the signing of the agreement between Kia and Dinamikjaya Motors Sdn Bhd, Kia’s takeover of operations marks a new beginning for the brand in Malaysia.
“Kia is excited to re-establish our brand presence in Malaysia. We are confident that our innovation and customer-centric approach will enhance the experience of Kia fans in the country, as we continue to support the growth of the automotive industry and local economy.
“We are committed to being here for the long term and in line with the brand vision of ‘Movement That Inspires’, we are determined to build a future with new experiences and sustainable mobility,” said Kia Asia Pacific President & CEO, Ki Seok Ahn.
Starting January 1, 2026, Kia will officially implement a principal-led operating model in Malaysia. This strategic move allows Kia to fully lead the branding, marketing, sales, customer experience and training aspects across the country. This change is also expected to have a positive impact outside Malaysia, as well as strengthen Kia’s growth direction in the ASEAN region.
Things that the automotive industry and Kia fans can expect from this new model include an increase in the dealer network, investment in after-sales service, as well as the launch of a new model.
Kia Sales Malaysia Sdn Bhd will be led by Hyung Ho Kim as President and CEO starting January 2026, while Emily Lek serves as Managing Director.
Peace of Mind Guarantee for Customers
During this transition period, Kia customers are guaranteed to receive the usual after-sales service at all official Kia Service Centers. Reservations made before November 30 will be fulfilled as scheduled.
Meanwhile, new orders will be paused from December 1 to 31, 2025 to make room for the transition to a principal-led model. Customers can place new orders starting January 2026.
“We thank the Bermaz Group for their dedication to the Kia brand over the past four years and the smooth handover process. Kia’s operations under the principal-led model are at the right time as the market is now looking for new experiences and value from the automotive brand.
“We appreciate the loyalty of Kia fans and hope to offer a more inspiring ownership experience, in line with the lifestyle of today’s Kia owners,” said President and CEO of Kia Sales Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Hyung Ho Kim.
To rebuild relationships with the market and fans, Kia will launch a new brand campaign that inspires confidence and answers the simple question: “Why Kia?” or in Malay, “Why Choose Kia?”
