Heavy Rain, Thunderstorms In 4 States Tonight
Heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds are expected to hit four states until 16.00 this afternoon.
According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), this weather will hit the entire states of Perlis and Kedah.
For the Penang area, heavy rain is predicted to hit the North Seberang Perai, Central Seberang Perai and South Seberang Perai areas.
Meanwhile in Perak it involves Kerian, Larut, Matang Dan Selamat, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar and Manjung sub-districts.
A warning is given if there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm/hour which is expected to occur for more than one hour.
“A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period of not more than six hours for a single issue,” MetMalaysia said.
Therefore, the public is advised to always be alert and not to be in risky areas.

Previously, MetMalaysia had also issued a warning regarding a Tropical Depression storm (KALMAEGI) which was detected at 8 this morning at latitude 14.0 north and longitude 105.0 east about 121 kilometers (km) northwest of Stung Treng, Cambodia.
Citing a Bernama report, MetMalaysia’s National Weather and Earthquake Operations Center said in a statement that the storm was moving west at a speed of 35 kilometers per hour (km/h) with a maximum wind speed of 62 km/h.
KALMEAGI’s distance from the nearest city is around 920 km to the northeast of Tumpat, Kelantan.
This situation can cause strong winds and large sea waves in the waters of the South China Sea.
