Chelsea Officially ‘Pang’ Liam Rosenior as New Manager
Chelsea FC will reportedly appoint Strasbourg coach Liam Rosenior as the club’s new manager effective this week.
This development was shared by the world’s leading sports journalist, Fabrizio Romano, via Threads.
Romano confirmed that Rosenior had agreed to join Chelsea and would start working in the near future.
“I can confirm that I will be the new manager, I signed a contract with one of the biggest clubs in the world,” said Rosenior as reported by Romano.
According to a BBC report, the 41-year-old coach is expected to replace Enzo Maresca who left Chelsea on New Year’s Eve.
Rosenior also confirmed that he had reached a verbal agreement with Chelsea, but the official contract had not yet been signed.
“I haven’t signed anything. I have agreed verbally with Chelsea,” he explained.
Rosenior admits the decision to leave Strasbourg was not an easy one. However, the opportunity to control Chelsea was too big to turn down.
“I will always love Strasbourg, but I can’t say no to Chelsea.
“I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to join an extraordinary club, with a great squad and Club World Cup winners,” said Rosenior.
At the same time, Rosenior also confirmed that several members of Strasbourg’s coaching staff would follow him to Chelsea. This includes first team coach Kalifa Cisse, assistant head coach Justin Walker and head of analytics Ben Warner.
For information, Strasbourg and Chelsea are in the same ownership group, namely BlueCo which is owned by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.
