Iran confirmed that IRGC Head Ali Shadmani died, promised to respond
Tehran – The Iranian army confirmed the death of the Supreme Commander of the Islamic Revolution Corps (IRGC), General Ali Shadmani, was killed in an air strike by Israel last week, AFP reported.
According to the Irna official news agency report quoting a statement from the Khatam Al-Anbiya headquarters led by Shadmani, he announced he died due to a serious injury suffered in the attack.
Shadmani’s death confirmation was carried out the day after the ceasefire announced by the US ended the 12 -day open conflict between Israel and Iran.
In that statement, he also promised to respond and describe Israel’s actions as a cruel crime.
Israel previously claimed to have launched an attack on the command center in the city of Tehran Tengah on June 17, targeting Shadmani.
Shadmani’s death occurred only a few days after he took over from General Gholam Ali Rashid, who was also killed in the early phase of the Israeli attack.
On June 13, Israel launched a mass bombing campaign targeting Iranian nuclear facilities and senior military figures.
The United States then joined the operation by attacking nuclear sites at Fordo, Isfahan and Natanz.
Iran answered with several waves of missile attacks on Israel and attacks on the US military base in Qatar.
Furthermore, President Donald Trump called on the termination of conflict immediately and announced an effective ceasefire on Tuesday.
According to official figures, the war had claimed the lives of 627 civilians in Iran and 28 people in Israel.
Iran is scheduled to hold a National Cemetery on Saturday to respect the senior military commander including Shadmani, as well as prominent scientists who have been killed in war with Israel.
