Indonesia sets the cost of the Hajj at 87.4 million rupiah per pilgrim
JAKARTA30 October (Bernama) — The average cost of organizing the 2026 Hajj for each Indonesian Hajj pilgrim is set at 87.4 million rupiah (around RM25,700), down around two million rupiah compared to last year.
The decision was taken as a result of discussions between Commission VIII of the House of Representatives (DPR), the Indonesian government, and the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) at the Parliament Complex, Wednesday.
Chairman of Commission VIII Marwan Dasopang in his statement said that this amount was considered reasonable without affecting the quality of service for 221,000 pilgrims with an average stay in the Holy Land of 41 days.
He explained that the congregation would pay 54.2 million rupiah, while the remaining 33.2 million rupiah would be covered through investment in Hajj funds.
The surplus of 149 billion rupiah will be saved as a subsidy for the next Hajj season.
He also emphasized that improving the quality of service remains a priority, including providing accommodation near the Grand Mosque and the Nabawi Mosque, serving Indonesian-style food, and providing pocket money to the congregation.
