Differences in the intentions of Hajj and Umrah »Nabawi Mulia

Hajj and Umrah are two forms of worship in Islam that have many similarities, but still have a number of fundamental differences. Both are part of a series of worship carried out in the Holy Land, precisely in Baitullah, and has a very high spiritual value. Even so, there are differences in terms of implementation time as well as some pillars that must be done in each of these worship.

Umrah can be done at any time throughout the year, without a certain time limit. Conversely, the pilgrimage can only be fulfilled at the specified time, namely in the month of Dhu al -Hijjah, starting from the beginning of the month until the peak of the implementation of worship that falls on the 9th and 10th of Dzulhijjah. In terms of harmony, Umrah does not require the implementation of wukuf in Arafat, Mabit in Muzdalifah and Mina, or throwing jumroh. All of that is part of the Hajj pillar that is not included in the series of Umrah worship.

Interestingly, in the implementation of pilgrimage, a Muslim can also combine umrah worship, both before, after, and the same. It depends on the type of pilgrimage, and the difference is based on the intentions spoken from the first time.

In general, Hajj is divided into three types, namely Haji Tamatu ‘, Hajj IfradAnd Qiran Hajj. These three types of hajj are distinguished based on the intention and sequence of implementation between Hajj and Umrah.

  1. Haji Tamatu ‘ This is a type of pilgrimage where someone first did a pilgrimage before making a pilgrimage. After completing the Umrah network such as Tawaf, Sa’i, and Tahallul (shaving or cutting hair), pilgrims then returned from the place specified to start a pilgrimage. In this type of pilgrimage, pilgrims read twice the intention: the first time Miqat with the intention of Umrah, then the second with the intention of pilgrimage in front of Wukuf in Arafat.

  2. Hajj Ifrad is a type of pilgrimage that is only done for the pilgrimage without previously accompanied by Umrah. If you still have time after the pilgrimage is finished, someone can fulfill the pilgrimage separately. However, if time is not possible, then just by fulfilling the pilgrimage.

  3. Qiran Hajj This is a combination of pilgrims and pilgrims carried out in one intention and one time of pilgrimage. In its implementation, pilgrims completed the entire series of pilgrims and pilgrims in the order without releasing ihram between the two.

Each type of pilgrimage has different legal consequences and fines (DAM), depending on its implementation. This has been arranged in a Shari’a and must be obeyed by every congregation.

The following is a reading of verbal intentions in accordance with the type of worship to be carried out:

Umrah Natta

Short Guide by Hajj Type:

  • Haji Tamatu ‘:
Pilgrims read Meaning When Miqat was in Bir Ali, he finished Umrah. After that, before going to Arafat, pilgrimage returns and pronounced Hajj intention.

  • Hajj Ifrad:
Pilgrims just say Hajj intention In Miqat. If after the pilgrimage there is still time, then it can fulfill the Umrah separate from Meaning.

  • Qiran Hajj:
The congregation immediately said intention of Hajj and Umrah at onceBecause both will be fulfilled in a series of ihram.

By understanding the type of pilgrimage and the right intention, God willing, the implementation of worship will become more calm and according to guidance. Be sure to always learn information about Hajj and Umrah before leaving for the Holy Land to be able to perform worship perfectly. Hopefully this explanation is useful and bring blessings.
